CPU waiving everybody?

Started a new franchise in 2026 and it seems every team has demoted everyone and lineups are comprised of awful minor leaguers. In all my years of playing OOTPB, I cant say ive seen this issue.

Did i do something wrong? The only thing I can think of is when i set up league the "prefers prospects" slider was moved a bit...

Have you downloaded the latest patch? There are still some questionable CPU waiver decisions in the new one (there will probably always be to some extent) but it's much improved from where the game began.

For me, this has long been an issue with starting new sims, particularly because they don't update ratings much year-to-year so some franchises are just SHOL with their starting conditions. The Phillies have been a challenging org to pilot in recent versions for this reason.

In any case, I like to sim a season as a free agent GM/MGR then join a team. That sorts out the worst of the ratings nonsense. One issue with that is the game is completely extension-mad, so you'll likely find yourself stuck with fictional contracts on a slew of 40s and 45s.
