POW gibberish
This is a new one.
Historical season in career mode - I'm in my second year. I have done nothing different to the teams as far as realignment or abbreviation. We just had our All-Star break. The schedule was the default generated by OOTP5. So there were only two games that week. When the POW news was generated, it came out as gibberish. Also, neither player had the POW noted in their history or in the League News Log. Last year's All-Star Break week POWs were fine. The POWs were pitchers, just like this year's, who had started the last game before the break and first game after the break and had performed well. Everything worked as expected on that, so it's not directly related to the All-Star week off. Anyone else seen this before? Thanks... |

Okay... this happened to me again. This time it was just a random week in August (8/11/1990, to be exact), and again - the players did not get credit in the team news logs or in their history for their POW award.
Because Bonilla is on my team, I'm a bit more peeved than I was before. Is there a way to edit a file to give them credit for these POW awards - if so, how? Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have made no graphic modifications to my team. One of my guys won POW early in the year - so it shouldn't be something wrong with my team abbreviation (just the standard "BAL"). Oh - and my first garble happened with OOTP 5.10. This one happened with OOTP 5.11. Thanks... Edit: I take it back - Kevin Mitchell DID get credit for the POW - but Bonilla didn't.

Oh my system info... though I doubt it matters on this particular occasion.
Dell Dimension 8850 Pentium 4 2.5 GHZ 256 MB RAM 60 GB hard drive The league file was originally started under OOTP 5.01 on a different computer; I copied the league over to my new computer on a game date of 05/30/1989. I'm currently at a game date of 08/11/1990 running OOTP 5.11. Last edited by hefalumps; 06-18-2003 at 01:11 AM. |

In doing some more research, I found the actual text files for each garbled news story. Here is the raw HTML of the first news story:
Code:

ŠÀ?-pì_XÙlogo35.bmp's third baseman <a href=p599.html>Bobby

batting .269. He adds 19 doubles, along with 65 runs
scored. It's the 5th time that the NL Player of the
Week award goes to San Francisco's leftfielder <a href=p815.html>Kevin
Mitchell</a>. Kevin went 12 for 25 (.480), while hitting
4 HR and collecting 10 RBI. He hit in every game this
week and extended his hitting streak to 9 games. He
now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well!
Thanks again... Last edited by hefalumps; 06-18-2003 at 01:37 AM. |

BUMP... someone must have some idea what's going on here...
I found all the news story places so I could give Bonilla credit for his Player of the Week, but in the "Streaks/Records" section of the Batting Stats view for Bonilla, it tallies the number of POW wins as 0 still. Is there any way to fix that - or is in the player DAT file? Hope someone can help... thanks. |
