I gotta bail on 27, back to 26
I've been buying this sim for at least 10 years and 27 is just, well, I'll use the term "unfinished".
The animations range from really pretty good, definite improvements over 26, to a janky, physics defying mess. And it seems like 50/50 -- half of the animations are just bad. The flashing catcher in the CF close view, pitches that seem to bounce around, 30-40 foot high throws that are somehow caught, throws that seem to pass through players, bouncers w/o shadows, popups that make a mockery of Newton, and on and on -- it just spoils the experience because it happens so often -- half the time. 26 wasn't perfect but it was much more consistent. And I really didn't even get into the stats yet, 16 games into the season and I can't watch any more. Maybe it gets fixed but for now I'm, sadly, going back to 26. I was 8 and 8 so that's sort of a wash, I'll just quick sim the season in 27 to see what shakes out stat-wise. I won't even get into the interface changes except to say that consistency, like in baseball, is a treasure. If it ain't broke... |

Haters going to hate... I personally think OOTP27 is a good step for the franchise with some improved AI logic in trades and the advanced statitics are fun. Never played this game for its realism on what it looks like because I leave that for MLB the Show. Yes there are things that need work, but the bugs will be worked out of the system.

Try playing at 5120x1440 resolution. If a management sim lives in menus, bad scaling is a core failure, not a minor bug.

I have to agree on the 3D play. Even off the bat the ball does some pretty strange stuff. Never mind when it gets into a corner and starts bouncing around like a pinball. |

Just give some times for the team to fix the major bugs... I bought the game release day but I don't plan downloading it from Steam for at least two months. If 26 is fine for you just play it and wait a little bit, in july the game should be mostly fine.
And jksander is right Joe666 wasn't that negative about the game... it's still ok to say what's wrong with the game, how the team would know the problems if being slightly negative was forbidden?

Everything Joe666 said was very fair and as a big 3D player myself, I agree with all of it.
Now, if your not a 3D player, it doesn't matter much and that's cool - stats, realistic gameplay and outcomes are - in the end - the heart and soul of OOTP. *But* a lot of people play 3D and it's important to them. Thing is, 3D took a step back in 27. I hate to admit it. I'm primarily back on 26 as well. What drives me nuts this year is the new batter models; a big deal breaker 3D wise. They look dis proportioned and the animations look awkward. 26 and previous was way better. That was something that didn't need to be changed. Other 3D things that should have been.... But if stats is your thing 27, once the tweaking is finished, hasn't missed a beat. Last edited by drksd4848; 03-24-2026 at 11:59 AM. |

I believe most wanted this last patch to fix the roster churn. I'd think that fix is based on what they are doing for roster churn in v27. It's a good thing it's not final for v26 until they get to a happy spot in v27. I mean they could have said "good enough" two weeks ago and moved on. But they didn't.
