Batter comments have disappeared

Every previous edition I owned had a few pieces of information displayed on a player batting under his his icon. I enjoyed this feature and don't understand why it would be removed.

I was just thinking about this too....I liked that information. It added something to the playing out of games to see a "statistical nugget" for each player as they came to bat. Any way to bring this back?

Agreed. I liked seeing the constantly cycling batter info. Also, the permanent stats are rearranged so now it displays "Home/Road" at the bottom instead of "vs this pitcher." You have to scroll down one row to see the career vs pitcher info now, instead of scrolling down to see home/road. For me personally, I would much rather see a batter's career numbers vs a pitcher than his home road splits.

For what it's worth, a few editions ago you used to be able to see batters' career numbers against today's starting pitcher in the opening screen where you set the lineup. I grieved that going away too. Would someday love to be able to customize what stats you see where.

That little ticker feed was a subtle, but nice little feature.

Also about the batter vs starting pitcher stats on the lineup screen, I still see that there? There was a time a couple years ago when it was hidden unless you hid the game options with the arrows button, but now I see it there whether those options are hidden or not. Build 45

Wouldn't mind seeing a whole slash line there instead of just Avg and HR personally.

Hmm, mine doesn't show it. It does show Avg and HR, that kind of stuff, for the season - it used to show them for career vs the opponent's starting pitcher. It changed a few years ago when the startup screen changed. I agree a whole slash line would be nice - really the ability to choose the stats you want to see there would be perfect, but I can understand how that might be hard to implement.

My thought on this is if they can grab this information for the opening lineup screen why isn't there a tick box to show the same batter v pitcher stats/view on the substitution page vs the pitcher that is currently on the mound? At least for the current lineup in the lower left box. Or better yet for the whole batter list in the upper player box.

I get the whole sample size so it doesn't matter argument, but it does add immersion, and the game is capable of generating the list for the opening screen.

Absolutely agree. The substitution page is a perfect place to be able to see vs pitcher stats.

And your point about it adding immersion is key. It's one of the things that makes the numbers become stories.
