Booting up a save for the first time, I ran through a simmed season without a team to get a baseline for what the players looked like, how the game simulated outcomes, etc.
What shocked me was that at the end of the year, the league leader in FRM (catcher framing runs) was Patrick Bailey with... 0.9 FRM. In OOTP 26, he would regularly get over 15 FRM due to his 80 Catcher Framing ability. IRL, Bailey had 25 FRM according to Baseball Savant last year. I booted up a new save and went to the Stats & AI tab to fully crank up the Catcher Framing slider, as well as edit the statistical modifier for Framing Balance from .867 to 1.500. I did this to see if I could recreate Bailey's FRM success from OOTP 26 and from real life performance. After another simulated season, Bailey only managed to accumulate 1.8 FRM, even in the exaggerated simulation environment. Is this intentional to try and recreate ABS within the game? If not, I think the game is currently mis-simulating FRM and their impact in-game. |

Just adding in here to say I noticed the same thing. Here are the FRM leaders on August 1, 2026:

Noticed this as well. It seems to affect WAR calculation, elite catcher defense is significantly less valuable in terms of wins than in OOTP 26. Not sure if it's just the FRM stat or if framing itself is generally useless now. Kind of a shame as it seems like now catcher fielding is a lot less important than just sticking the best bat you can find there.
