Post HOB 1984 Hall of Fame Ballot

ORIOLES HURLERS TOP NAMES IN ANOTHER WEAK HOF CLASS
Baltimore pitchers Milt Pappas and Steve Barber are the two big names in a very weak list of first time eligible players for the HOB Hall of Fame. Former Detroit and Texas slugger George Thomas is likely the only other candidate who will draw much interest from the voters but it is quite possible no one will be elected into the Hall this time around.
The veterans committee has successfully lobied to have Gaby Hartnett added to the ballot. His numbers compare quite favourably to catchers from his era that are in the Hall. Another catcher, ex-Brave Joe Torre may also get some interest from the voters.

Here are all the first time eligible candidates. Their bios and stats are listed below:

George Thomas Outfielder
Milt Pappas Pitcher
Steve Barber Pitcher
Mickey Lolich Pitcher
Joe Torre Catcher
Rico Petrocelli shortstop
Jim Longborg Pitcher
Bill Sorrell Third base

Veterans Committe
Gabby Hartnett Catcher

Here are the repeat candidates along with the percentage of the vote they received last year. Their info can be found here :

Thanks in advance for your votes.

Here is a look at each of the first time eligible candidates:

Gabby Hartnett
The 8 time allstar catcher has career stats that rival HOB Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Walt Lerian and Rudy York but Hartnett never got the call to join the game's elite.
His best season was 1928 and he helped lead the Cubs to a World Series title that year. He retired following the 1939 season at the age of 38.
Maybe a veterans committee is needed for the HOB Hall of Fame.
Below Hartnett's season by season stats are a comparison of similiar era catchers that made it to the HOB Hall of Fame. NOTE: The veteran's committee did successfully loby to have Hartnett included on the 1984 ballot.

In a pretty weak class, I can only find one that I believe is worthy of induction, and it's not his first time on the ballot. This time after several seasons, 2900 hits and over 400 homers might just do the trick for him.
