I think TCR should apply to older players and there should be less season-to-season consistency

I love that TCR got a boost in the most recent version. However, one of my gripes with the game is that it for the most part just applies to younger players. Once a player gets past that development stage, you don’t really see career resurgences, late bloomers, or an “off” season or two followed by a comeback. Career paths like that of Adolis Garcia never really happen in OOTP. You can have the occasional one-off bad or great season late in a career but these are usually caused by batted ball luck rather than a genuine talent change. In real life, guys tinker with their approach a lot, sometimes to good results, or sometimes just “lose it”. But then you might see a resurgence if someone is very talented.

Bottom line, in OOTP, once a player peaks around their mid 20s, they often follow a consistent aging curve with little season to season variability. You won’t see a player rebound after they start aging. Having a more dynamic and unpredictable aging curve would make the game a lot more interesting, particularly if players who were more previously talented had a higher chance of turning it around, which would create the opportunity for high risk high reward FA signings for formerly talented players that have fallen from grace. Right now, if I see a player that’s declining, I have no desire to acquire him regardless of his past talent - IMO it should be a hard choice to let go of these sorts of “washed” players and there should be incentive to give them another chance. Similarly, players could have really bad one off seasons caused by some underlying reason and you have to determine if you think they’re truly washed, or if they’ll turn it around the next season.

The whole age-30 cliff needs a do-over. It should be a more gradual thing, not this precipitous drop in how the game views players when a 3 appears at the front of their age.

I firmly believe it would solve a lot of the crappy AI decision-making issues as well, guys getting chucked up on the block more readily when they reach that age and above, with little real consideration for their skillset and ratings.

Particularly in a recalc setting, a player's age should be all but irrelevant. Those roster decisions should be made based on ratings / stats first and foremost, with other considerations like salary and TC given much more weight than at present.

I always understood TCR effected every player equally.

The 29-30 limit has been horrible design decision. year after we discus how it negatively impacts. Ignored in favor of posts showing some random imaginary player posted with amazing ratings

George Springer last season is a great example of the type of player I never see in the game. Seemed to be on his downward curve due to aging and then exploded for one of his best seasons ever. Way too many players I've seen in historical leagues come in as absolute studs as they should and are basically done by 30....the dropoff is incredible.
