This will always drive me straight up the wall
I use reserve rosters for my random debut leagues. Heck, even when I play straight up historical leagues, I prefer reserve rosters. I just don't like clutter and like to keep things simple. I don't use roster limits, so teams usually have at least 40 players on their reserve rosters.
I know people will say that's too many. Problem is, teams will still end up with only 2 catchers on their roster. Yup, 40+ players on their reserve roster and not a single one is a catcher. Of course, when one of their catchers gets hurt, the crap show begins. This morning I watched a game in which Lou Brock played 9 innings behind the plate. His team the Birmingham Baron's #1 catcher, Bubbles Hargrave is on the IL with an unknown return, leading to Duffy Dyer being the only catcher on the roster. There are catchers sitting on the free agent pile, so there's no excuse for this happening. |

Birmingham only healthy catcher gets hurt and joins Bubbles Hargrave on the IL. The Barons are now catching Rob Deer without a rating. At least 9 catchers in the free agent pool. Why when looking at the list of free agents do they all say impossible under signability?
