How do you boost a Variant Card?

I'm genuinely confused on how you boost the variant cards. I've gone into the variant booster card clicked the actions drop down and tagged it to a variant boost, but I don't know where you can see how much it boosted the card I tagged it too. Can anyone help with giving me a better understand this process?
