Promotion/Relegation League need help with ideas

I’m making a promotion/relegation league based on all of the celestial bodies in our solar system with my friends just to do something different. We’re doing 81 games with no playoff and a couple of tournaments spread throughout the year, similar to the FA Cup and League cup from the premier league. I need some help with ideas for the minor league or development side of the game. Do feeders work with associations?

Idea 1: It looks like I can create all the teams in one league, associated them with a minor league system and then move them into the three tiers and they’ll stay associated. Is that the best way to do that or does it even work?

Idea 2: Have just a reserve roster and have them do development leagues. This I know works but just seems boring.

Idea 3: I know it doesn’t work with associations sadly but using the IFA system to bid on players seems fun. A replacement of that could be having an independent league where players go and get drafted and then having to buy them from that league.

Idea 3 should work. If you have the setting where free agents can leave leagues, and have each league create its own IFA, teams would be able to bid on IFA for other leagues. I would have them all on the same date, create the same number of players, and let the pieces fall where they may. I've done this before.

That's a good idea! I know that AI likes to buy the IFA from other leagues, do you happen to know if the pools are combined so that doesn't happen when more than one league is doing it?

The planetary symbols would make really good logos for this league

Idea 1 will work, it's what I do in my fictional league. Just make sure each Major league has a Minor League associated to it, otherwise some Minor League option are not available for that Major League. Among other things you lose the ability to set secondary roster size for that league. I have a 3 tier promotion / relegation league with 3 minor league levels (AAA, AA and A) and each Major League has one Minor league associated to it.

I did use some of the flags that I saw that had symbols of them! I just kinda used a whole lot of logos for teams, even some of the NASA patches, they're pretty fun for that!

Huh that's a good point, I didn't think of that! I've now attached my rookie league to the second league and it didn't affect anything from what I can see. Thanks for the advice!

This is such a cool idea for a league! Good luck.
I really want to know more about how to set up a nice tight world fictional world with a major league, minor and feeders (college and HS) I'm just not sure on the best levers to set for this to integrate nicely especially the feeder component.
