Players on ice: Teams play with three skaters and one goaltender per side. Tie-breaker: If no goal is scored during the five-minute overtime, the game proceeds to a shootout. Playoff and bronze medal games: These rules apply to qualification, quarter-final, semi-final, and bronze medal games. Overtime period: There is a 10-minute sudden-death overtime period. Players on ice: Teams play with three skaters and one goaltender per side. Tie-breaker: If the game is still tied after the 10-minute period, it proceeds to a shootout. Gold medal game Format: The gold medal game is decided by 20-minute sudden-death overtime periods until a goal is scored. Players on ice: Teams play with three skaters and one goaltender. No shootout: Unlike other playoff games, the gold medal game does not have a shootout. Overtime periods continue until a winner is decided on the ice |
