UPDATE: OOTP 26 Public Beta Patch: 26.8.82

UPDATE: We have a few little updates to get in. One part applies some roster updates as certain KFL (KBO minor league) needed some updates, and also added in some PT quality of life changes. Please do have a check of the new version, and if all goes well, we will release it early next week.

Just in time for the World Series, we have a new patch that we are releasing to public beta. The new version is 26.8.81, and it includes a fix for a long-annoying minor league roster problem, along with some nice PT quality of life fixes, and a mix of other changes too.

Use this at your own risk! Please back up important league files before loading them in this beta.

• Randomizes some KFL players
• PT: Added tournament reward icons back to the tournament list
• PT: Fixed reward display popup showing only one pack type

• Fixed ratings on new fictional game inaugural draft class
• Fixed some issues with the alternate skin
• Fixed some issues of AI teams releasing players immediately after signing
• Added new MLB facegens
• Updated Historical Database
• Fixed playoff series leader text in pre-game header text
• Fixed occasional mac crash on coach page
• PT: Fixed missing subtypes in filter selection (like Mission Edition)
• PT: Added option to filter tournaments/drafts on the “Your Tournaments” page
• PT: Updated roster restriction year descriptions to be more precise
  2025 cards will be included in all restrictions that do not explicitly exclude the year
• PT: Fixed tournament buttons text alignment
• PT: Tournament list expanded entries will scale now with the text (reward icons are currently disabled)
• PT: Roster Builder Updates
  **Fixed export to new saved roster issue
  **Increased slots that can be saved to the server (to be applied in a separate server update later)
  **Added option to upload when saving roster
• PT: Selecting clubhouse card from missions page will go to clubhouse shop
• PT: Updated interface in some spots
• Misc roster updated, misc bug fixes, UI fixes

Important info for online leagues: This patch should be compatible in online leagues.

How to access the beta on Steam:

• Quit OOTP 26 if it's running.
• Open Steam client -> Library
• Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 26
• Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
• Click on the beta tab. Here, enter the following code: ootp26betapt
• Click on "Check code"
• Open the beta pull-down and select "publicbeta".
• Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
• Open the client again. It should then download the beta build.

Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Here's a PC installer (Fastspring) that installs into a single folder, which is useful for external HDs for example. Or for creating a second test install of the game, so you can try the patch out without the risk of messing up your main install of the game if something is wrong in the patch:

In spite of OOTP's issues, after the disaster of a disappointment that was FM26 even after 2 years of development I refunded it and am straight back to OOTP. We still appreciate that you are trying to fix these issues that we report

Not every patch regenerates the .odb, I'd assume, based on that bullet, that it was regenerated within the past few days for this patch so as to reflect anything reported and addressed over this release cycle.

FYI - Still having the following issue

After I installed the skins files then updated a few trophy pictures then re-install the skins by deleting the skin.bin file for the changes to take effect, the Strengths section in the trade module no longer has the color (Red, Yellow, Blue) circles.

Dark mode was updated, Light mode was not.

ALSO - The Uniform numbers are no longer being displayed.

Sorry, but at least FM did the right thing, took it off the shelf, and came back with a new vision. FM has way more depth and immersion than OOTP and the continued "tweaks" year after year with little added depth to the game (Development lab for instance is a joke) is disappointing.

FM will listen, and will refine what they got. I know baseball a lot better than soccer and wish OOTP would finally re-asses where they are and flesh out what they got and spinoff PT.

But hasn't happened in how long...

They skipped FM25 entirely and FM26 launch was absolutely terrible. They've had two years to refine things and things still launched in a shockingly bad state. If anything FM26 is a counter-example of doing a major overhaul. Not saying it's not possible and other games have done it but man I really wanted to like FM26 but it's so so bad

The advanced access has been available for 5 days or so now, not much is going to change between now and release day. It's pretty rough, and the UI is an absolute disaster.

how is everyone finding the latest beta patch? For those experiencing the minor league signing-firing merry go-round, has this been improved?
Thee were some experiencing an issue with platoon splits being broken - have these been rectified?
I'm thinking of ripping the band-aid off, and starting a brand new game from scratch within 26, instead of continuing on with my imported 25 save into 26.
For some reason the 3D Ballpark construction kit isn't working for me anymore, i think it must've gotten rid of some OOTP25 stuff it needs. I've tried all manner of suggested fixes but no avail. So I've been looking for a reason to start a clean new game from wholly within the OOTP26 infrastructure (not importing my OOTP 25)

I was one of the people complaining about the minor league sign-release disaster. It caused me to uninstall the game and walk away from OOTP. I'm enjoying the music creation platform Suno and will give FM26 a look next week.

I drop in here to follow the conversation. But unless the next version of OOTP is radically different, I won't be returning.

So is that a yes you've tried the latest Beta and it still doesn't address the issue or no you haven't tried the Beta and you're going to sit it out and see how next year's version goes?

I uninstalled the game two weeks ago, as I wrote about here.

I'm also curious if the latest "patch" finally fixed what Matt refers to as some issues of AI teams releasing players immediately after signing. It definitely wasn't just "some issue" for me - it was a deal breaker. But that's just me. Curious to see what the future holds for Markus' creation.

This isn't about me. I've made it very clear how I feel. For now, I've walked away from this flawed product. Will I return for a future iterration of OOTP? Only if the people behind OOTP manage to finally address what is the greatest weakness of the game: the thing they call "AI".

I've put countless hours into OOTP over many years. I'm rooting for the developers to put a better product on the table instead of selling us essentially the same version of the game every year with a few new "features" that almost never work as intended. * Will they succeed in doing that? Who knows. But I'll keep checking the forum to see which way the ship is sailing. Feel free to ignore my jaded comments.
