Big Change List for FHM12

Here's the (mostly) complete big list of additions, changes, fixes, and other new things for FHM12. As usual, this definitely isn't 100% complete as I've assembled it from a variety of smaller lists and other discussions, and I'm sure I've missed a few things. And the order may be a bit haphazard.

-added Draft Day experience: AI teams will now make trades to move up/down during the draft, including "live" offers to user-run teams, and there is a new section on the draft screen that reports on those trades as well as rumours that give the user more information on what other teams are likely to do
-the training camp development bonus has been replaced by offseason Training Programs, where specific attributes or attribute categories/groups can be targeted for improvement up until the end of the preseason
-regular training now allows specific targeting, at a cost in development speed for the player
-Historical World Championships have been added back to 1929 (aside from years where they were skipped in real life, e.g. WW2)
-new-format mid-season World Cup of Hockey added, beginning in February 2028 and every 4 years thereafter (leagues will adjust schedules to free players for it, as they do with the Olympics)
-added large number of non-NHL players to historical database to ensure national team rosters will be full
-trade news is now more varied and includes, in many cases, an explanation of why one of the teams made the move
-added news when a Single Game Record for a league or team is broken
-added news when a player moves up in the top 10 of some leaderboards
-CHL-NCAA player movement adjusted to reflect the movement to the NCAA being much heavier than had been anticipated last year, should be a considerable number of ex-NHLers in the NCAA every year now, some of which move prior to their junior career being done
-some of the upcoming NHL CBA changes for 26-27 have been implemented, specifically:
1) over-24 ELC exemption
2) minimum salary increases
3) maximum ELC salary increases
4) contract maximum length reduction
5) players cannot have retained salary in a trade if they had salary retained in another trade in the past 75 days
6) players drafted at age 18 have their draft rights held by that team for 4 years, players drafted at age 19 or older have their draft rights held by that team for 3 years
7) year-to-year salary can only vary by 20%,
8) LTIR Exemption updated to the new rule: only the portion of a player's salary up to the league average salary (currently about $3.8m) is exempted from the cap, everything above that still counts, but only for players who aren't out for the entire season
-adjusted junior preference generation to reduce the number of Americans in the CHL leagues, particularly the OHL
-NHL jersey update and then another NHL jersey update and then another NHL jersey update, thanks to Hockey13Playa

Pretty nice list of improvements this year! Quick question, will the ability to select which year(s) a No Movement and or No Trade Clause be added in the future. As well as Modified No Trade Clause.

Can anyone confirm if screen menu settings reset each time you go back like on staff, player search screens? Hoping it's fixed as it's been a problem for years.

-adjustments to 2D mode that will better distribute shots amongst forwards

Really hoping that will stop the c scoring too many goals in my historical games

This is a great series, keep up the good work

Am I looking in the wrong thread? When i heard 12 is out I thought I'd check it out and see what the new features are. Is this the "Reason why 12 is better than 11"? This looks like a long overdue patch, not a new game. I'm sorry, but if this is your list on why I should buy, then sorry, i'll be unsubscribing from future emails as this is a joke.

While this list is impressive it seems more like patches and no new features, Did Custom games get anything new?
- Historical Financing Available in a custom game back to 1909 like playing with the Historic mode?
- Ability to create an actual colliate league and not a paid junior league?
- Same options in world editor for Custom as in Historic modes etc?
- Ability to deactivate leagues in custom games?

I have been a huge fan of this game series and spend a lot of time with it but it feels like the new versions are starting to be like you know who and only focus on one mode and leave everything else behind, I get that you can't make it 100% like OOTPB but giving us a better sandbox would go a LONG way. I'm not sure if it's worth mymoney to buy 12 if the mode I play the most didn't even get touched

Of course there are going to be "fixes" as well, but the new training system and Draft news/trades are the standout features for this year's game. Most of the time people seem to want them to focus on patching the game rather than adding new features. When they try to do both, neither is good enough.

I agree with you. This will probably be the first game in the series that I’ll skip. I’ve played every other FHM so far.
The only game mode that still interests me nowadays is Custom Game, but none of its bugs have been fixed — the same ones I’ve been pointing out in previous versions.

put me in the camp of those who want a complete NHL game over (a lot of) new features. My perception of the problem is that they have too small of a team to have a game with so many leagues. So instead of being able to focus on the NHL (the license they do have), both current and historical, they are spending time ensuing rules and rosters are right not just in the KHL or SHL but also obscure leagues they don't have a license for. Add in trying to add a rapidly changing NCAA landscape and many customers get something they want, but no one gets a complete version of their preferred league/playing style and tactics, roster management, 2D, etc and new features all get less time. That being said, it is still a good game and with so few NHL Sims on the market, this one is my preferred option. But I do worry that trying to be all things to all players will leave an opening for an upstart game to do the NHL game better then FHM in a few years and that would be really disappointing to a lot of us who have kept the faith since the first FHM.

If you're asking about drag and drop to set Lines, Scouting, etc. I am running FHM12 on Windows and it still does not work for me.
