1980s Baseball at its Finest!

Do you like 1980s baseball? It was a time of speed, defense, and a decade some of us founded our love for the game during.

There are 3 historical leagues all at some point during the 1980s which have openings for a dedicated GM... Each league is run similarly with daily sims of a week at a time, settings and budgets set to match the period, and even the uniforms and post-sim generated baseball cards from the correct year. Opening Day and playoffs are live streamed and the stats are directly in line with historical values from the period.

All 3 leagues have a good dedicated group of active GMs and see consistent export rates. If you ever wanted to see Don Mattingly in a Mariners uniform, or Rickey Henderson stealing bases for the Reds, or George Brett banging doubles off the Green Monster in Boston with the Red Sox look no further. We are making our own version of history on a daily basis here.

League: HBK
We are currently in the off-season after the 1980 season. The Cubs just won the World Series and we are entering the free agent period with the rule 5 on the horizon. Teams are still vying for the top free agents as there have been no MLB signings during the FA period yet.
Open teams:
Milwaukee Brewers (EDIT - Brewers have been claimed )
The Brewers are a middle team in the AL hovering around or just below .500 for the last couple of seasons. They lack real star power, however they have some decent players both in MLB as well as in their minor league system. A dedicated GM could take the reigns and mould the team in their own image fairly easily with a 3 or 4 season rebuilding effort.

League: REB
We just started the 1986 season (still in April) and the Reds are the defending champs of 1985. The Royals and Yankees have been strong teams in the AL and the Dodgers and Phillies have led the NL to this point. 1985 saw a start in a new trend where other teams are starting to rise up to challenge the more dominant ones.
Open Teams:
Montral Expos (EDIT - Expos have been claimed)
The previous Expos GM left to take a job with the Dodgers, however he left the team in really good shape. They are a little bit long in the tooth (older) but still feature a core of C Gary Carter, 1B Cecil Cooper, and LF Tim Raines. They also have some upcoming 21-year-old dude with the last name Canseco... Should be an easy team to come in and do well with.
Minnesota Twins (EDIT - Twins have been claimed)
The Twins have been a bit neglected the last few seasons. Their team is young but lacks top level talent. They are probably slated to be in a rebuild for the next 4 seasons or so. It is an opportunity to shape the team to your liking, but a challenge at the same time.
Milwukee Brewers (EDIT - Brewers have been claimed)
Solid but not spectacular. In the middle. These are both terms to describe this team that could go either way. Land a few top level players and get them back to the playoffs (last visited 1982) or tear it down and start over. Your choice.

League: MLBH
The league just started the 1988 season (still in April) and has seen teams like Seattle and Boston win it all the last few seasons. One great thing about this league is there seems to be a pretty good distribution of teams winning championships. Sure, the NL teams dominated the mid 70s - mid 80s but 5 different NL teams won titles in that time period. MLBH features a good amount of parity in the league as a whole.
Open Teams:
Montral Expos (EDIT - Expos have been claimed )
An above average team led by a solid offense. 1B Cecil Fielder and CF Devon White are key for this group along with emerging star C Mike Stanley. A couple of key additions on the pitching staff and you could probably take these guys to the next level. They seem to just miss the playoffs the last few seasons.
Philadelphia Phillies (EDIT - Phillies have been claimed)
A below average team that probably needs a rebuild. They do have some up and coming pitching pieces developing, but aging stars LF Dave Winfield and CF Willie McGee need an injection of some youth on the offense. This team consistently finishes a little bit below .500 so would likely benefit from an experienced GM to take them back to greatness.
Boston Red Sox (EDIT - Red Sox have been claimed)
The Red Sox are ready to go. The team won championships in 1985 and 1986 and has won at least 96 games in each of the previous 4 seasons. LF Tim Raines, SS Barry Larkin, CF/1B Leon Durham all lead the offense while SP Bert Blyleven and a few others lead the staff. Show up and win right away situation.
Milwaukee Brewers (EDIT - Brewers have been claimed)
The Brewers made the playoffs in 1985 and 1986 so this team is still competitive. One or two key additions and they'll be back in the playoffs. Led by SP David Cone, SS Tony Fernandez, and RF Ruben Sierra this team has a core of 20-something year olds that honestly should be winning now. Another relatively easy situation to step into.

I commish all 3 leagues. Any interest, questions, etc. please reach out to me directly. Would love to see all 3 leagues filled again.
