AI turning SS into 1B

I'm in the 2026 season right now on a live start started on Sept. 16, 2025 and for some reason managers on the Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Red Sox are turning perfectly serviceable SS into 1B.

Bo Bichette signed with Florida in the offseason and was immediately turned into a 2B and then into a 1B. He has a higher defensive rating at SS than both the Marlins' current SS and 2B but is being relegated to 1B. The SS is Xavier Edwards and the 2B is Connor Norby.

The Baltimore Orioles turned Gunnar Henderson into a 1B and Jackson Holliday at 2B (acceptable) but Luisangel Acuna at SS. It makes no sense.

The Boston Red Sox have Romy Gonzalez at SS, Ceddanne Rafaela at 2B, and Trevor Story at 1B. Why is the player with the weakest SS defensive rating out of the three at SS?

The Chicago White Sox have a similar issue.

Maybe this is a coach issue but you have to imagine that big-name players like Bichette, Henderson, and Story should have enough pull to ensure they get their primary position over inferior players. That should be part of the decision-making of teams in the game. Does a feature need to be added where players can demand a position?

I got the same problem with basically everyone. Players like Yordan, J-Ram, James Wood, Augustin Ramirez, Tyler Stephenson, and other players are automatically put at 1B despite not having 1B as a secondary. It's happening all around the league and it's ruining my immersion. I've had to stop my White Sox save because of it. I took over following the 2025 season after winning the KBO. This has kind of happened in my historical save with George Van Haltren and Ed Delahanty, but honestly it's fine for them.

The AI loves turning players into 1B, it's annoying. I think if they play 1B for 1 inning in an emergency, they get a rating there and then suddenly their position gets switched because their ratings there always look amazing (bc they have middle infield range).
