Saving File Question
Hello. Can I save my game in a separate file so I can return to it whenever I want? Is that what the Backup Feature is? I apologize. I'm only familiar with more of the creative features.

You can just make a copy of your .lg folder if you want.
Backup will do that, but you'd still need to go make a copy or move it since if you were to backup again it would overwrite it. |

What steps would I take to make a copy of my .lg folder?

Open file explorer
Navigate to saved game location (Documents/OOTP/savedgames) Highlight appropriate folder Copy Paste Depending on the size and age of your league this could take a good chunk of time. I like to make a zip file of my leagues if I really want a good backup. |

The league folder name must end with ".lg" otherwise it won't be visible in the game. If you do a copy/paste you need to rename the folder to get rid of the added text at the end.
Screenshot of my documents, I left the "- copy" at the end of my backup so that I didn't accidentally load it. |

Here's a tip for when you just want to do a little testing on your league before committing to any permanent changes in your good save.
You don't need to make a copy of your entire league folder, the only truly necessary files are the ".dat" files inside the main saved game folder. Rather than copying thousands upon thousands of files every time you want to make sure something is going to work the way you want, you only need to copy those dat files into a new folder. Only takes a few seconds. Those are what my "restart 1, 2, 3" folders are, just multiple copies of the same saved game. I test a change in 1, then load up 2 and try a different change, etc. The next time I want to mess around I just dump a fresh copy of the dats into those folders quick. |
