Any ideas why this is happening?

I'm working on a project with teams from different eras playing against each other. I drop them in different years and play out a season. Recently I've noticed some very poor and strange roster decisions by the AI. As you can see, the AI is keeping Ronald Acuna, Michael Harris and Marcell Ozuna on the reserve roster in favor of Forrest Wall, Eli White, Sam Hilliard and Kevin Pillar. Ozzie Albies is on the bench in favor of Braden Shewmake as well and cases could be made for some lesser changes.

This is one example....pretty much every team of the 32 in this league has a similar issue. It is often with OFers, but can be other positions too and sometimes pitchers. It has happened with other groups of teams as well...not just this one.

Financials are off, scouting is off and even after I went in and moved Acuna, etc to the active roster, they were immediately moved back to reserve. I also tried it with the regular historical database and the EOY Roster databse. It is the same players every time I redo things and many players aren't affected....Acuna, Harris and Albies seem to be left out of any team they are on, for example, but Matt Olson and Austin Riley are always active and play. Any ideas what else I can try? It pretty much ruins the replay any time this happens.

Here's an even worse example- I switched out the 2023 Braves for the 1979 Pirates and they keep all of their OFers on the reserve to the point of only having 14 active players. Not to mention Willie Stargell and Jim Bibby! I simmed a few games to see what would happen and they are using pitchers as outfielders! What is going on here?

What do you have it set to in the section that pertains to the number of starting pitchers/bullpen pitchers and position players each team carries? Do the 3 things add up to the roster limit size? For example, 5 starting pitchers/7 relief pitcher and 13 position players if it's set to 25?

Also have noticed defensive ratings play a large role in AI decisions. Some average players that have great defensive skills, boosts their overall rating.
