Lineup Spot

I remember a few years back that it was a topic of conversation that there was a belief that OOTP put a modifier on players' offensive performance based upon what spot in the lineup they were. So no matter who you put there, the leadoff through the cleanup slots would see positive performance modifiers while the rest of the lineup would see negative performance modifiers.

Is this still a common belief? I haven't heard anyone talk of this in a couple of years now and wondering if this is affecting my player performance in PT. I shuffle my lineups daily based upon hot/cold performances, and wondering if I'm actually hindering my best players who hit a slump and get put into the bottom half of the lineup while I wait for them to pull out of it.
