Retirees

Is there a way to talk a guy out of retirement? I just got a retirement letter early in the season and wonder if it's hopeless to talk him out of it. In NFL 2k3 you have a chance to talk the retiring players out of it, but it's based on how much money you offer the guy. I think that's good , but would also like other reasons for it. Maybe the guy is near a milestone or the team got very close to winning the series and you can convince the guy to stick it out one more year. Maybe coaches can have a persuasion rating or something.

Just a thought, comments welcome.

There was an utility created to do that for V4. Don't know if it was upgraded to run in V5, though.

Teh age of retirement should be raised, its odd that most players retire by 39, the players should retire when the start to suck.

We have patterned the player development cycle for realism, I'm sure that we will continue to adjust it as we see areas to improve it but VERY few players play with much effectiveness past the age of 39. Notice I did not say all I said "few", so I don't see us "raising the retirement age" if we are trying to attain a similar player development model as baseball history has shown it to be.

I read part of that thread, but hadn't realized until now that its that close to real life. It just seemed like guys lasted longer in real life. There was something else interesting in that thread, adding use of steriods and other aspects of the game to OOTP, I think inability to play for non-injury reasons would be cool.

Well, you can always add those types of things into your injury file.
