Just as Kerry Wood was coming into his own he was struck down with a career ending shoulder injury.
I'm left thinking what could have been. If anybody has any Kerry Wood careers that they wouldn't mind posting I would be interested in seeing them. Thanks in advance. |

I had same problem with him. I drafted him in first round 28th pick. I looked at his ratings and was like Great!. I put him in my starting rotation right away..I had too he was 10 era and at least 7 at every other stats except wals at 4.
The good news Rookie of the Year..bad news next season he just flopped and went into steady decline. I finally just let him go to free agendy. So anyone ever have any good storys bout this guy? |

Good call on Kerry Wood. I've run three careers using Rolen's rosters and Wood has only survived one of them successfully. In one, he was struck down by a career ending injury in 2003 and in another, after a trade to another team (I think the Mets), Wood went 14-42 and eventually disappeared. The one time he was successful, he won the 2005 Cy Young award with a 21-5 record and a 2.88 ERA. Too much of a gamble when you can get some other guys who are almost sure-fire bets year in and year out. You get Pedro (although a lot more money) and you are almost guaranteed 17-25 wins a year for eight years.

In my dynasty, Kerry Wood threw two no hitters in three years with the Cubs, and then came to me in a trade for Carlos Delgado (I was Montreal at the time). It took two years before Wood led us to the WS and to victory as well. I left the Expos after the WS for another project, the Devil Rays.
Unfortunately, Wood's career ended early in my current season, season 8. He was doing fantastic up until then. |

I started off in OOTP 3 and than imported this into OOTP 4 so it may be different for other people.
In my league he was rated "normal" I've seen Mike Mussina, who was rated "durable" go down to a career ender too. |

hmmm...i had Wood hit a career ending injury in 2003.
same thing happened to Adam Eaton in 2002. But seeing this Wood thing with other people just seems weird. i kinda worry for the kid now in real life. [ 05-22-2002, 08:45 AM: Message edited by: YankeePride ] |

Kerry is still pitching in 2011 in my season. He was traded to Cincinnati and then to Arizona. He is still in Arizona.
His career record is 137-100 with a 3.64 ERA. He also has a no-hitter. Todd |

Even though in my league he wasn't playing for me, I was still a little bummed when his career was ended. He had thrown a couple of no-hitters, and even almost 4 seasons later, he is still the only pitcher to have thrown more than one in my league. He seemingly was becoming a "pitcher".
Oh well. |
