daily lineups are manually set: the AI will not change what you set (unless you put a setting for). normal lineups are your base depth chart. i use daily lineups when i am trying to micro my rosters in a specific situation outside of my depth chart.

Daily lineups let you select specific lineups for upcoming scheduled games. They give you more control, but it's a fair amount of extra work. When you choose to use them, a window with the upcoming schedule opens at the bottom of the screen, including the opponent and expected starting pitcher. You then either select the lineup manually, choose to use the default vL or vR lineup, or choose from custom lineups that you can define and save.

Upside is that you can tweak the lineups to take advantage of park factors and opposing starter quirks. Downside is that as you move further into the future, the identity of opposing starters becomes more suspect, especially if your opponent is also using daily lineups, with the potential for swing men, openers, and emergency starters. For the most part, they're workable, but only if you're willing to check in on your team every couple of hours during league play or if you've pretty much verified that your upcoming opponents don't use dailies and have predictable starting rotations.

Basically, default lineups is like playing base game as GM only. Daily lineups is closer to playing as manager and GM, but you have to do it real time rather than at your leisure.
