Does it matter if Eye is Zero if you hit every ball into play?
Had to buy this one. Last edited by Big Poppy; 06-24-2025 at 10:42 PM. |

Yes, there are some extreme outliers. It's also been pointed out that walks prevent power guys from hitting home runs (walks are checked first), although you still get an extra (usually slow) base runner for the next hitter. If he goes deep....
Order in which OOTP applies ratings: Walk or Hit By Pitch Check: The engine first checks if a walk or hit by pitch occurs. Strikeout or Home Run Check: If no walk or HBP, the engine then checks for strikeouts or home runs. Double or Triple Check: If no strikeout or home run, the engine checks for doubles or triples. Single Check: If none of the above outcomes are determined, the engine checks for a single. Batted Ball Out: If no single occurs, the outcome is a batted ball out. So... BB's (and HPB) and K's are the first checks, Everything else happens afterward, with the engine checking through progressively from best to worst outcome (for the hitter). BABIP is essentially the last check, but it's still important if it's extremely high because it prevents the dreaded batted ball out. Here's an extreme example that you've probably seen in league. Check out the hitting against lefties especially. Low K. Low BB. Next to no HR. Minimal gap power. However, he's going to "save himself" by hitting a lot of singles and will generally post an "empty" .300 average, which is still valuable because it moves runners and keeps the inning alive. Another, better example is Rod Carew, who is a hit machine even against lefties. |

13 seasons with Pesky, 4th in BA, leader in HRs and RBIs. 11th in OPS+. Caught stealing twice as much as SB.
Like an itch I can't scratch. |
