Players not getting rehab work anymore?

I've recently noticed than when I send an MLB player coming off the IL to AAA for a rehab assignment, they never get any work on that AAA team. I've only seen this recently. Is this a flaw that needs fixing or is there an option I have checked off by mistake? If so, where can I fix it?
Thanks!

The direct fix would be to take control of that AAA team as GM/Manager, set the lineups with the rehabbing player, and then add them as "Daily Lineups" for the duration of the rehab period. You would have to check the box preventing AI changes, which means the AI would not otherwise control the AAA team.

Many play with AI across-the-board control of minor league teams. The AI should sense that a guy has been added for rehab, and give him priority. But I have seen what you are seeing. He does not break into the lineup. So you can't rely on the AI Manager to do the right thing. That means you have to disable AI control to accomplish the above.

Not seeing this in my game. Players are instantly put in the lineup, rotation, or given a bullpen assignment.

But yeah, if you are seeing this Pelican's suggestion should work. I would also think one could go to player strategy and use the "force start" option at whatever position they wanted.

Thanks Pelican. I'll try it and report back to the board if it works or not

I play with injuries low, so I don't have many to manage and therefore never even thought to confirm the minor league team actually played the rehabber. Is it possible it just counts time on the active minor league roster as "rehab" time and actual PT doesn't matter for purposes of shaking off rust?

It shouldn't be like that because I'm trying to keep it as realistic as possible, so for example, if I have a starting pitcher rehabbing in the minors and he pitches like 5 innings today, I wouldn't want to call him up tomorrow because he'll be tired and would need at least 4 days off before I can use him on my team. I also want to see how a player is performing in rehab. In rare occasions, they reinjure themselves, which is realistic.

It shouldn't be, but is it? I'm not sure the setbacks are necessarily tied to use either, they seem like random events but maybe injuries are more likely in rehab appearances.
