World file corrupted

Help! My longtime save has suddenly been hit: When attempting to load my save it says it could not load the world file. I've tried this several times to no avail:

Every time I finish it, it still says it could not load the world file. Then when I go through process of the game trying to fix it, it says "A problem occurred while loading the league files. Please start a new game." Then it says "the loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version."

I do have a backup but it's fairly far back. Anything I can do?

I should add, I'm on a Mac and not sure about FTP filing as the CuperDuck app now appears to be $24?
