Barry Bonds etc.

If I import Barry Bonds' rookie season into my league, will his power numbers increase as they did in real life? Or do I need to put him on steroids? And any other players that took major performance boosts, too.

If you enable recalc, he will be Bonds, though a 5 year recalc will be less extreme than a 1-year recalc. If no recalc, he is just a great prospect subject to the whims of fate (and the game development engine).

Currently, my league is fully fictional except for a handful of imported players. I have never used re-calc. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using it now?

Recalc only impacts real players. It reassigns ratings at the beginning of each offseason to align with that players ability at that given age based on real life. So if you want Barry at age 38 akin to real life Barry at 38, use it. If not, let aging and development variance do as it will. Turn on recalc will impact all imported real players too btw so that’s clear.

I'm curious about something. Bobfater says his league is fictional except for a handful of imported players. If his league was created as a fictional league, is it even possible to turn on recalc? I've never imported a player before. Is the recalc option part of the import process?

The league was created for the 2018 standard league, I am now in 2053. Just to help clarify for David Watts. If it matters, I have been importing the league since version 19.

It is a worthy point of consideration. I play mostly historical so always have the historical tab available to me. If the tab and recalc options are not there it’s Bonds and whatever the engine does with a player of that potential.

Auto-calc by the league totals is different. I’m away from the computer or else I’d share a screenshot.

Auto calc and re calc are different. If you don’t see the historical tab, I don’t think you can run re calc, and bonds would develop through the ootp engine.
