Stretching out a reliever
How do I increase a reliever's stamina? I have a reliever with 26 stamina. I sent him to AAA and forced him into the rotation with a 100-pitch max. Will this work similarly to putting a player at a new position?

I don’t think that will work. I think there is an off-season dev camp that increases stamina.

This is one where I honestly "cheat" and go into commish mode in the offseason and treat it like it was part of their regular offseason work.
I feel like it's too difficult to do in the dev lab compared to how often it's done in real life. |

It's an area the game unfortunately doesn't model well. You can toggle a guy between 5-pitch outings and 100-pitch outings and back without missing a beat. This never happens in modern baseball. I think a nice adjustment would be to have a current stamina and a max stamina where it takes a couple weeks to get to max- a little like the positional fielding rating, but going up more rapidly, and going down when not throwing multiple innings.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t a relief pitcher tire much quicker than a starting pitcher? It seems to me that I can take a relief pitcher with stamina around 50 (20-80 scale) and about 50 pitches is all I can get from them before they hit the “exhausted” mark. It’s extremely rare that I can get a reliever to go more than three innings.

That's correct, but one of the issues is that (for example) a 35 (on 20-80 scale) stamina pitcher would be able to go two innings as a reliever, but six innings as a starter (or follower) on any given day, without any need to be "stretched out" as a starter. So the same pitcher would be treated very differently depending on how and when they enter the individual game, with their use in preceding games not affecting things at all.

Agreed on the above. Another issue I’d love to see enhanced is if a SP only throws limited pitches (say 20-25), they could come back in real life 2-3 days later. In OOTP, it’s still five days.

What would you think if I added a few points to stamina after each start? I know technically cheating, but it seems more like real life.
