Quest for the Hall of Fame
Started my current random debut league in 1961. Deleted the California Angels and the Washington Senators to get the league back to 16 teams. Using the integrated mod, so this league will feature the Negro League players as well. 3 year recalc. Default adjust weaken settings. No more of that multiples of the defaults jazz, as I'm starting to think doing that tends to turn the best players into video game gods. I'm also using a higher than normal TCR setting for this league. Want to say it's set at 125 or 130. I have short term injuries set to high (modern) and long term set to normal for now. May up long term to high(modern) at some point. Fatigue is set to high. Started this league in 61 and plan to follow historical modifiers to at least 1984, May go to 1992. At that point, modifiers will freeze.
American League Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox Chicago White Sox Cleveland Indians DetroitTigers Kansas City Athletics Minnesota Twins New York Yankees National League Cincinnati Reds Chicago Cubs Los Angeles Dodgers Milwaukee Braves Pittsburgh Pirates Philadelphia Phillies San Francisco Giants St. Louis Cardinals I think in the long run, I'm going to sim a lot of this leagues games. I was trying to watch a game per day, but my goal is to watch the hall of fame populate and that means I need to get through seasons at a faster pace. So, I'm going to have to learn how to sim on the fly. I finished the first season last week. Jimmie Foxx led the San Francisco Giants past the Cleveland Indian in the leagues first World Series. Foxx took home the NL MVP hitting 51 home runs while driving in over 130 runs. Foxx's stay in San Francisco turned out to be a brief one, as he signed a free agent deal with the St. Louis Cardinals during the offseason. Foxx is a sure thing for back to back MVP honors, as his second season is turning out to be even better than his first. With one week left in the season, he's hit 57 home runs. His teammate Giancarlo Stanton has 40+ home runs, giving the Cardinals the most potent middle of the order in the league. Potent, but not enough to win the NL Pennant. That honor goes to the Milwaukee Braves. The Braves should be primed and rested for whomever they meet in the World Series as they clinched with a little less than 2 weeks left to play. The AL race is still up for grabs with a week left to play. Much like the Milwaukee Braves in the NL, the Boston Red Sox have been in control of the AL for the majority of the season. The Red Sox lead was as high as 9 games for much of August, but then the Indians and Orioles started to chip away at that cushion narrowing things to as little as 3 games. That's where we sit right now with one week left to play. Boston's magic number is 5 games. The Indians are 3 games back and the Orioles still have a slim chance as well. The Red Sox are led by a youngster by the name of Hank Aaron. Aaron is a sure thing to win his first batting title in 1962. He's already set a new league mark for hits in a season and is on pace to finish with roughly 220 on the season. |

Jimmie Foxx wraps up the 62 season hitting .335 with 60 home runs and 149 RBI. .335 was good for second in the NL batting race, behind Melky Cabrera's .344. Hank Aaron won the batting title in the AL with a .374 average. Aaron finished the season with 38 home runs, just 2 behind league leader Joe Carter's 40. Aaron led the AL with 129 RBI.

Given the title of the thread, David, I hope you allow yourself to vote for the HOF once you get some guys hitting the ballot.

I've only did that one time and then I felt guilty, because Yasiel Puig made the Hall and I forever wondered if it was only because of my vote. I'm usually pretty hands off in my leagues. I just decide things like league expansion and league rules.

Jimmy Foxx may be heading for a 3rd straight National League MVP award. He's second in the NL batting race and leads the NL with 45 home runs with couple weeks left to play in the 1963 season. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates are looking to go from last place in 62 to NL champions in 1963. The Pirates drafted Wade Boggs with their 1st pick reward for stinking last year. Boggs has paid immediate dividends by hitting well above .300 all year at the top of their lineup. Duke Snider in his third season has also helped the Pirates find the top of the standings.
The AL is once again in the control of the Hank Aaron led Boston Red Sox. Aaron isn't hitting as many home runs in 63, but he's once again hitting above .300 and is driving in a lot of runs. |
