Long time Lurker few questions

Hi all first time poster but long time lurker here. I played OOTP 18/19 took a break and I am back now. I am in third season of my 2nd play through (Manager and GM and play through all my games).

Anyhow few questions

1. First the big thing that is throwing me off BIG time is new development lab. I've read up on it and seen mostly want to use it on my prospects/younger players.

My problem comes in that it has actually been counter productive. I rarely have success (even on the easy ones) and I actually caused leg damage to my highest rated prospect. It almost seems like gambling but gambling with 40/80 21 year old catcher with 17 framing seems like...Huge gamble.

Am I doing something wrong here or is it just bad luck? I'm nearing end of my season and I almost don't even want to use it.

2. I remembered to put service time/roster limits on my minor league teams thankfully. I found post couple years old said AAA/AA/A/-A 30/30 spots with Rookie/DSL 40 spots each. Does this still hold true?

3. Finally I was considering adding more games to Rookie/DSL leagues season since well 40 spots in roster. Is this a good idea and if so how many more would you add (if any at all)?

4. Finally it kind of goes to number 3. Draft date is bugging me. Would it be better to move the draft date back to earlier in the year so my newly drafted players actually get playing time? If so what date would you suggest?

Sorry for all questions. I been trying to figure out things again and done alright but these four things got me stuck.

Sorry about your misfortune but I'm glad to see players in the Dev Lab are not immune to injuries. That's the right way to do it.

There's a discussion of the Dev Lab HERE that you might find helpful.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics?

Oh yeah he did. I actually did what was suggested by Markus and did before and after.. This wasn't my catcher it was outfielder. I had them do baserunning and return on it was somewhere between 5 to 10 points (in editor) of injury proneness to legs. Forgot exact number.

I'm thinking with your response it might be small sample size? Out of about 21 plays I put in I belive 1 had small improvement, 1 had major improvement, 1 had poor (leg prone mess), and 18 others showed nothing.

Is it just bad luck since it really is pretty small sample.

Edit: ignore my errors my fat fingers and this phone don't get along

Either it is very bad lucky or, you are not understanding how the dev lab works. What type of players and what programs are you sticking them in?

Cause for example, if you send a veteran player, who is fully developed to like movement, control, power, gap, eye, ect. type programs, a successful will not give you any return on your program. You would need an outstanding result to get a potential boost to help improve your player.

Also, making sure you have a good coaching staff and making sure players have positive personality traits also help in getting better outcomes.

Using the programs I listed above on players that actually need the development like prospects, will give boosts in them programs, and only a successful outcome is needed to see an improvement.

Hope that helps out a little?
