Ootp 26 apple store
Does anyone know if they will have OOTP26 on the Apple Store this year , reason why I ask it’s much safer than steam.

Safer? In what way?
FWIW, I would never again buy OOTP from the apple store. I remember the app store version would never get the latest updates until much later

I doubt it. I think developers had more “APPLE” hoops to jump through and probably thought the sales numbers through the Apple Store didn’t make it worthwhile. Especially since most Mac customers were already getting the game directly or through steam.
This is just my best guess.

The Apple store charges a HEFTY commission. Also, Apple farts around and drags their feet allowing update posting. I understand the relative safety of the walled garden—I'm a Mac user myself. I've been buying this game direct from OOTP since '05 and have never had an issue.
Fear not and buy direct!

I get it direct. If you get any other games through steam I would go that route. Also depending on how computer savvy you are, it may be easier to install mods through steam.

I always go with Steam cause then if I get a new computer, I don't have to jump through the hoop of having to try and remember to uninstall and release my game license on the OOTP server. I can install OOTP on as many computers as I want and not worry.

Steam is easier due to license issues, direct is "better" as you control the updates and not have Steam auto update and nuke your league.
Sure it's "unlikely" to happen again, even less so since ComUS has the license for the league we still can't name name, so there's hope it could be brought back. Last edited by OutS|der; 01-13-2025 at 11:43 AM. |

If you're on a Mac, STEAM STEAM STEAM!
Due to the way Mac containerizes program folders, it's extremely difficult to convert a save from an old version to a new one if you buy direct. Through Steam, the versions are installed in the same container so the folders can talk to each other

Out of 15-20 purchases (who's counting) I've used the App Store all except once or twice when I bought the game directly from the OOTP distributor. I've had unwanted complications with Steam when buying other games and don't use it anymore. An advantage of using the App Store is that you can ask for a refund, which I have once when the Japanese leagues were removed in an update. I also trust Aplle's efforts to ensure data privacy more than I do Steam's.

I have never seen an add. Of course, I only bought OOTP24 through Apple, which was the first year I bought the game.
