drafted player not on roster after he was paid

In the 1906 season (I'm playing a full history of baseball from 1901 onwards), I was able to draft Tris "The Grey Eagle" Speaker to my NY Giants. After fruitful negotiations I went to add him to my roster only to find he's missing...how can I fix this?

When you type Speaker's name in the search box in the upper right, where is he? Once you find him, enter Commish mode (Manager's Options), go to the Speaker player editor tab and go to the bottom of the page left-hand side. You can manually assign him to your team that way.

Did you check if he is in the "designed for assignement" section of your organization? I just play with real transaction now but I remember that before I did the drafted players I sign after the draft always went to that section.
