GM/Media Relations
My owner has asked me to improve the GM/Media relations. It was 'critical' and has now become 'open warfare' which is strange as I have made a concerted effort to agree with many of their 'assessments' when being asked questions.
Is there a way to improve relations? Is the mechanic broken? |

That's the way to improve them, avoid disagreeing with the media assessments. The improvements aren't guaranteed, however (there's a check against your self-preservation skill to determine whether or not agreeing with the media makes them like you more.) If you've had bad luck with those, one disagreement (or even a neutral statement) could be enough to make the relationship worse.

But is that not at the risk of player morale? (or does the game not check on that?) I'm more than happy to agree with praise, but when a player of mine gets criticized for one tough game while they've otherwise either played well or played to my expectations of them (and I'm sitting in first place in the division or a safe playoff spot), I'm not going to agree with their criticism.... that's unfair to the player. (I usually just select the bland platitiudes option). If it's not at the risk of player morale to criticize them, then I will do that more. But if it is, then the open warfare will continue. I'm a players > media GM.
