Adding Historical Players as Free Agents

I have had a fictional league composed of my all time favorite historical players for years. There are 20 teams "Major League" organized into 2 leagues.

Each "franchise" has a "AAA" and "AA" team.

Years ago, I entered 500+ individual players into a Free Agent Pool and each team owner drafted their favorite players.

I have forgotten how to add more players. I have not entered any "Free Agents" for years. Some of the team owners want to add their favorite Negro League players as well as players who have entered MLB since 2006.

There used to be a section in the Online Manual that explained the process, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The most efficient way to do this is to collate all of the players you want to import into a txt file.

Then you go to LEAGUE TRANSACTIONS and, as you can see in the attached PIC 1 below, there's a dropdown on the RHS.

Select IMPORT HISTORICAL PLAYERS.

After you select the database you want to use, that will bring up the dialog box shown in PIC 2, below.

Apply the settings you want and select the CLICK HERE TO SELECT FILE I have highlighted. Point it to where you've saved your txt file and click OK then, when you're satisfied all is in readiness, click IMPORT PLAYER.

Now there are a few other considerations.

If you want the new imports to go into the pool for the next Rookie Draft then you need to select that option prior to import.

If you don't then they will just come in as FA.

Hope that helps, ask away if you need more help and remember to MAKE A SAVED COPY OF YOUR LEAGUE BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCESS!

Save a COPY of the .csv in the STATS folder of whichever version you are using.

I'm presuming this is majors-only save, so you need the MASTER.csv file. If, however, you are using minors and / or want the players as absolute rookies rather than when they first made the bigs, you can use the minors ID from the MiLB MASTER.csv file.

BTW if you are on a Mac, I have a hack you can use.

Simply collate the player IDs (column 1) and rookie season (column 2) in an Excel spreadsheet, running downward.

When it is ready, re-save that file as a .csv file.

Go to that .csv and click on the file name, then change the .csv suffix to .txt and that file can now be the one uploaded for a bulk import.

You could probably do something similar with Windows, I don't use it so have no idea but if you google how to convert a .xlsx or .csv file to .txt I am sure you'll figure it out.

Adding teams to Free Agents

Thanks for your advice and patience...

One more question... what's the best or. easiest way to add and entire team to a Free Agent database... say the 2008 Rays or 1927 Yankees?

Sorry, that one is beyond me. Hopefully someone else can tell you.
