Forced to keep 19 y/o on NHL roster because junior team is at foreigner limit
Must be new in FHM11, never happened to me before. Can't assign to AHL because they're 19. Player is 1 star so I definitely don't want him on my NHL roster.
Uploading to FTP server as "FHM11-cant-assign-juniors.lg.zip", player in question is RW Matvei Gridin Last edited by BlueLemming; 10-26-2024 at 10:13 PM. |

Basically, that's a case of us having to go with the least-worst solution, it's been like that for a while. The ideal way to handle this would be to limit the number of foreign player rights a junior team can own, but right now it's only possible to do foreign limits based on the active roster and contracted players. So a junior team can sign its foreign limit while a guy like this is away on an NHL roster (because he's contracted to the NHL team and not on the junior roster, so effectively invisible to them), and then not have room for him when the NHL team wants to send him down. Either we have to block the move, or force a junior team to release a foreigner. The latter might seem better from the NHL perspective, but if you're playing in the CHL, you're really not going to like it when one of your players gets forcibly released. I'll see if we can come up with a better workaround, but for now the only option is to keep him on the roster.

Hm I see. In my case I have every league turned off except NHL+AHL, so a not-so-great workaround would be to forcibly release them in that case, but eh, yeah it's a tricky one. In a perfect world I'd be able to loan him to his European team but I'm not sure you can do that while on a CHL contract.
In the end I just went into commissioner mode and forcibly assigned to AHL by changing their current team. |

Is there a scenario where a CHL team could fill the spot with an overager on a tryout style agreement that lasts until the NHL player would be sent down, so the CHL team can easily release the other guy in the case the NHL prospect is sent down? Or...could the GM (Human or AI) be given a news item letting them know about the scenario and that the GM needs to make a decision (release or trade) by the end of that day? |
