*** CBL’s MLB end of 2024 regular season roster ***
CBL’s MLB end of 2024 regular season rosters….!
AVAILABLE NOW https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wNn...usp=share_link *** OOPS I DID IT AGAIN *** Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Another CBL MLB roster update…!! ![]() Updates include: - Updated playoff matchups….for some reason the live start has a few games that were never rescheduled for a few teams. These games were played at some point I believe in real life, so not sure why…..??? - Leveraging my Opening Day CBL roster batting ratings splits for majority of MLB players - Updated injuries - Contract extensions for Matt Chapman, Will Smith, Victor Robles - Updated Financials/budgets for teams - Updates to coaches / Francona to Cincy, Dan Wilson Seattle - Updates to some prospects to better reflect current Top 100 MLB prospects - MLB Top 100 prospect updates - In general lots of updates to Detroit Tigers bullpen, Kerry Carpenter - Updates to National and local popularity - Tried to catch as many massive player ratings increases as possible. Good example is Luke Weaver on the Yankees. Goes from a #6 starter / mop up guy to a dude this year. Basically a 40 that is now around a 55+ - Created Roki Sasaki as an IAFA. As a reminder I’m more conservative with ratings/talents in my roster sets. Most MLB overall top 10 prospects are 60+ range. 70’s and 80’s very rare. 50 is a good average player. Before you begin, please put all teams back to AI control!!!! Hope you all enjoy!!! Plan is to release in next few days. Realistically sometime this weekend. Looking forward to your end of season ratings. I simulated the 2024 season with v.3 CBL ratings compared to the ratings OOTP provided at the time and went week by week while placing the progressions on Twitch and I found that my CBL simulation was more accurate compared to the actual final 2024 results, so the CBL ratings are appreciated by me.
Having the end of season CBL ratings should also have a couple of other advantages. I assume those players who were signed after being drafted this summer are properly assigned. I also assume that the CBL ratings set will be a good base line for this winter's hot stove action heading towards spring camps. Apparently OOTP has still not fixed the LiveStart end of season in order to get the proper teams in the playoffs. I was hoping to perhaps place some AI managed World Series games on Twitch but without the proper playoff tree one typically has to not only tweak the rosters but has to set up the games in exhibition mode which drastically decreases the game attendance and the resulting crowd atmosphere. Having the proper playoff tree with CBL ratings should help this problem. Thanks again, CBL! Last edited by kcstengelsr; 10-16-2024 at 04:58 AM. |

Another feature of the roster I’m SUPER EXCITED about…layering in Baseball Savant data for speed rating.
I exported sprint speed, converted those measurements of ft/second to OOTP speed ratings. For instance Baseball Savant states 30 ft/second is elite, 27 is average, and 24 is poor. Only downside is Savant only had MLB stats….but its a start. I created standard deviations from this to create a 20-80 system to input to OOTP. Super excited about this and will screen shot more information later to explain a bit better. With the robust data available at Baseball Savant my hope is we see OOTP near future starts leveraging data where applicable! |

Great news, looking forward to this!
btw, just for informational purposes, the speed ratings in the default rosters were already based on Baseball Savant data this year. Just obviously data from previous years, not from 2024.

Lukas this is great news thanks for sharing! Do we anticipate layering in more relevant Savant data to OOTP in areas that are applicable such as arm strength, framing, etc?

Just to clarify though, we don't necessarily 100% use the Savant data for a single year for a lot of ratings, so you won't see a direct correlation between their data and the rating in-game. Some ratings we use Savant data more strongly than others, so some areas you will see a more direct correlation than others. We will layer in data from multiple years of Savant, and will also include other sources, including tweaking ratings based on reputation and scouting reports as well. There are a lot of reasons for that, one being that single season sample sizes are notoriously noisy and it usually takes multiple years of data to stabilize defensive data in particular. So we like to use as many data sources as possible when doing the ratings to balance out the noisiness of small sample sizes.

Here is speed example leveraging sprint speed + standard deviations + OOTP ratings.
Upper right are ranges, bottom is actual grades for running speed. |

Scouting is off by default in this roster set.
*** Remember to enable AI/CPU control for all teams! Right now it’s turned off so I could adjust ratings/talents without moves occurring.*** |

Just started using your file. I have a question about something I am seeing. On every trade offer I get from another team it says the offer has expired. I have yet to receive an offer that I can actually accept.

V2 up shortly!
Main changes: - A’s now in Sacramento with field and stadium dimensions loaded - Updates of a few misc ratings - Major updates to MLB player popularity. No more unknown Relief pitchers as “popular”. Most stars and superstars tagged appropriately. I may have missed some. - Contreras on St Louis moving to 1B. Ive significantly decreased his catcher experience and upped his 1B experience. - Some changes to market size/budgets for some teams. I’ll update this thread when posted. |
