Tennessee Tri-Cities or Tri-City 26ers?
Thank y'all for your feedback on my New Orleans minor league affiliate! I have one more team for your consideration.
I want to bring minor league baseball back to eastern Tennessee where there seems to be a void in the South Atlantic League...The Johnson City, Kingston, Bristol area. I am hoping to find a team name that unifies that area, so far I have brainstormed the Tennessee Tri-Cities or the Tri-City 26ers. The Tri-Cities name refers to that entire geographic region and seems more inclusive. But is it truly a team name? The 26ers refers to I-26 which runs through Johnson City and Kingston, but doesn't travel over to Bristol. Well, I'm truly going back and forth so I would love your input on these or any other names that could work even better. Also, on somewhat related note, how jacked up is the Sally League's geography? Greensboro is in the North Division? What? ![]() |

I'm going to vote Tri-City 26'ers. In my head, the other one is like the Massachusetts' Bostonians. I just hear twice what my brain wants to think of as the city/state/region geographical first part of a typical team name.

Well for example, Quad Cities River Bandits. Now I would say Quad City area and Tri-City area but I think when it comes to sports teams, like with the River bandits Quad Cities is better because there is more than one city so I would maybe go Tri-Cites 26'ers. Yeah the Tri-City 26'ers rolls off the tongue better, but the correct term is probably tri-cities.
Well... now I made myself a dilemma! There is also the Tri-City Dust Devils, sigh... Well, I dunno lol I guess you can go either way lol. And then now I find they are called Tri-Cities, Tennessee... (Of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol) So I will stick with Tri-Cities 26'ers. Last edited by twins_34; 09-14-2024 at 06:27 PM. |

Seems to me if the Twin Cities have the Twins, the Tri-Cities should have the Triplets.
Or you could do what three New York towns did when they shared a team - the Amsterdam-Johnstown-Gloversville Hyphens. |

Having lived in Tennessee, I think people in the area would identify with Tri-Cities.

I'll vote for the Tri-City 26ers but, since you brought up 26 doesn't go through Bristol, maybe Tri-City State Liners could be an option.
Those three cities currently have Appalachian League teams (MLB sponsored collegiate summer league that can be added in OOTP for those who aren't aware). Bristol's team is called the "State Liners" which is a pretty interesting team name. Works best for Bristol since it straddles VA and TN but works if you want the team to represent 3 cities in 2 states. Was in Bristol last weekend and it never gets old being able to stand in two states at once under a very cool looking sign. |

I don't know how you'd feeling about naming a team after alcohol and things related to alcohol but, I would go with the Moonshiners or Bootleggers, because there is definitely a history of both in that area

Ya know Dorn, I liked you so much better when you were just a ballplayer. If you wanna be an interior decorator now that's none of my business. But some of us still need this team. Now you listen to me! This is my last shot at a winner and for some of the younger guys it could be their only shot. I don't know what happened to you. But if you ever, ever tank another play like you did today, I'm gonna cut your nuts off and stuff em down your f***** throat! - Jake Taylor, Major League Last edited by LunchBox; 09-17-2024 at 06:27 PM. |

I actually live in this area. I wish we did have a team like this. a couple other names for the region have been the Mountain Empire and more recently an attempt to get the name "Appalachian Highlands" over - in case that helps or gives you some ideas.
