Combinator card question?

I am pretty sure most people have alot of worthless red cards..i am thinking this far into season if you go to TRY and sell one and you are 4th-5th 0r more in line probably best to take a HIT and sell them..what do you all think..Thanks

IMO, it would be much more useful to have some PP in your bank to play the game with than a card in the shop for 18 months.

I converted my worthless red cards as soon as I could. Seeing them makes me see red, so I am much happier with the piddling return on this not-so-great idea.

I always love selling a card for 25PP that once upon a time told me itself that it is was worth thousands. I never found who it was worth thousands to. So, I bent over, and I took my 25PP with a grimace (not a smile).

I think its mularkey(trying to keep it clean) that they gave this option. They should of allowed for us to quicksell them. Most of the time, they were thie "hit" of the pack, and now you are getting pennies on the dollar for them. Garbage, and the developers for trying to clean up their mess this way....even bigger garbage.

It would have been sensible

to make the quicksell price 10x base for irons and bronzes, half the next level for silvers, golds, and diamonds, and 40K for perfects. They could probably do this retroactively for all of you who did this with a few lines of code and a search of the database overnight. It would generate a lot of goodwill.

Good will is needed outside of the small group of deep pocket players that the game is centered around pleasing. We all appreciate PT and even OOTP being funded by relatively few players. The rest of us need reasons to hang around and spend our smaller budgets of time and/or money. Those reasons become fewer every year because of disasters like Combinators coupled with the loss of PT+. In a single year these two things have caused more animosity from the everyday casual player than I have ever seen. The few people anymore on these forums and the fanboys on Discord are not the only places this game is discussed. People on other venues have opinions too and those opinions are declining. Discord is the only sounding board that is listened to, it seems. An echo chamber may not be the best place to have all of the feedback marbles stored.

I am Kush and the preceding message has been approved by me.

I have to chuckle at "the loss of PT Plus". IIRC, there were howls of derision throughout the land when this was introduced as a "money grab".

I would agree, but it was an affordable way to keep up with the Joneses.

Whatever it was, I had it from the first day to the last. I bought and paid the full year immediately. No monthly payments. So yes, I wanted it again.

The two extra quick slots are compensated adequately by the 4 daily slots and 3 PD slots. At least, since the refresh in August.

It would be nice if they offered double login rewards for a fixed one-time payment for the life of the game and included "automatically receive your login rewards even if you don't login". Plus, if on day 360 they changed the diamond pack to a perfect pack, it would give people a reason to login at least once a month in year 2.

I agree. Once the new cycle starts in Spring, I never look at last year's team again. I can currently find little or no reason to revisit.

I don't get the hate for PT+.

If combis were a way to spur more purchasing of Perfect Points to raise money, I doubt the juice was worth the squeeze. Certainly the outcry from combis is far more than PT+ ever got.

But they absolutely need to do something to keep the servers paid for and the lights on.

Now, unlike that vast majority of gacha games, they charge a hefty fee for the base game. $50 and another $10 for OOTPGO is the same price as Baldur's Gate III and one of those games has slightly higher production values.

But, still, they are small team and I doubt daddy Com2us is opening up the wallet for development costs. In fact, Com2us has laid people off just like the rest of the gaming/tech industry. So they should monetize.

We don't need to turn OOTP into MLB 9 Innings (Com2us' hardcore gacha game) but I'd readily pay for a battle pass system or something similar. They could do what many persistent games do and have a multitrack battlepass. One side is free and you get those rewards by doing things like logging in. The other side is paid and has cool rewards.

That's very moderate monetization and griping about it in 2024 is kind of naive, honestly. And I think we should encourage them copying monetization strategies from games like Marvel Snap and discourage the worst impulses found in EA Sports games or Com2us's gacha games.

Use them as Combinator Food for Combinators that you want to upgrade they do give quite decent points

As we near the end of the season, these cards might become more valuable to combine into better cards later in the game.

I think its been just awful with these cards.

I got frustrated last week when I reviewed all the teams that kicked my ass in every tournament and they're at least half combinator. I ran into a diamond team that was 100% combinator.

So, I thought, ha ha, I can do this too.

I used my 200,000 points, then I caved and spent $100 usd.

Using silver combinators I have (I have like 40 combinators in total) I managed to get 4 cards to level 1, 2 cards to level 2, and 1 card to level 3. ONE.
I lost on a handful of high percentage rolls.

I'd estimate to build a full combinator team would cost up to $1000.

How is that fun for anyone unable or unwilling to spend that kind of money?
