Sure, this kid looks good but he's maybe not quite ready for the Yankees

Man, this is a tough franchise to impress. Yankees are dominating, 13 games up at the trading deadline.

Their future star Mel Stottlemyre pitches a no-hitter on 7/30. He was close to perfection... he had 1 walk and faced only 28 batters. He's 6-2, 2.53 ERA in 17 starts... having a good season!

The Yankees trade for 3-star Don Nottebart on 7/31. He was 10-5 with a 2.85 ERA for the Braves.

2.5-star youngster gets a ticket back to Richmond. "See you in September, kid."

Seems about right. Mel didn't come up until the end of 1964.

Plus Richmond is a wonderful place to live--except for when the real Yankees were burning it down!

They sent him down to work on his control. This is the Yankees, A no hitter isn't good enough. He has to be perfect
