Why are some players simply not in OOTP 25?

I am playing a standard game, and was searching around, and was unable to find many players. These players have all played MiLB, and I have all leagues enabled. Any reason for this? Martin Cervenka was the main player I noticed was absent. Thanks.

Some players are also not covered by the players association and without that, OOTP can't use them.

The entire local high school team here is missing. I'll be sure to get their name on a list. You know there is no list of "not included". If there were, I'd hope it was in html format, just to drive you bonkers. It also has nothing to do with the MLBPA license.

The active players in the KBO are subject to laws that require their names to be scrambled so if you are looking for a former MLB player that is active over there, you need to dig a bit to find them if playing with the KBO on.

The OP was looking for cerven000mar. He retired. Like any player who is retired, major or minors, you need to import them if looking for them outside their playing window. If he doesn't import, make sure the checkbox for players in the minor league db is toggled on. But he won't be there no matter how much one searches on a standard 2024 game.

It is my understanding that all players have union membership. It is pretty much an automatic thing. There were a few that were denied membership in the past like Kevin Millar and some other replacement players from the strike in 94. Kevin Millar had the longest career.

I'll say it again. It was not a license thing. The OP was looking for a player in the 2024 standard game, but that player retired a few years before that. The player WAS in the OOTP database. They were just not active in 2024. It's that simple.

If a player is missing or duplicated or whatever, post on either the roster thread (current players) or the historical database thread (retired players) in the bug forum and it will be addressed.

LansdowneST is correct. Last week I fast sim from 1901-2023. (as played, real transactions). I just check that league and Kevin Millar, who never was in the UNION, did play in OOTP.

So Korean KBO players have their real names but former MLBers don't? What are rules exactly since I played with Kiwoom last year and Addison Russell was on the team. This season, I didn't play KBO but when I signed a former MLB KBO player in my MLB save, he was scrambled. Did it change this year?

I didn’t say that. My response was in context of the OP’s query looking for former MLB minor leaguers. I think they are all scrambled if in the KBO - but I don’t play KBO. So if the guy he was looking for wasn’t retired and thus was still unaccounted for, to find him in the event he went to the KBO would take some additional digging.

Just created a standard game and added the KBO. It looks like all the non-Korean KBO players (such as Austin Dean or Mel Rojas Jr.) have different names. KBO players look accurate. With a little bit of work you can import the players with commissioner mode and replace their fake alternates

try importing, if he has retired. it usually correlates to the basballid on baseball reference, if i recall.

anyone you find is not in the game... maybe some older version of him is allowed even if they aren't retired. If the rights were owned in 2022 (or just 'prior to now'), i would think you can import the 2022 player.

find someone similar and copy/paste :P

These are the type of edits you may want to repeat over time (or not). Keep a list you can import and add to it as you go. ootp24 manual will have info on how to set up such a text manual import file for historical players.

It’s the BBR minor league website suffix of a player to get the ID to import a player that was in the minors that year. Nothing to do with “prior to now rights”. I literally gave the OP the import code.
