First off, you might be wondering why the title says 2023 and not 2024. That's because after playing a few saves in OOTP25, I can honestly say that I much prefer 24. No slight towards the dev team, they made another incredible game, I just prefer 24. Now, for the intro to the team. They stink. Bad. And we need to change that, however long it takes. To do that, I need to make some moves to the starting roster to lower the payroll so that we can pump more money into the off the field budgets and staff.
Trade #1:
Crismatt will be one of our starting pitchers this year, and I love him in this game. He's a super solid starter, and I know I'm going back to a player I've had in nearly every OOTP24 save, but I can't help it. Luis Campusano hasn't shined much in his MLB at bats, but he'll likely start in AAA for us. Adrian Morejon is injured for a few months, but when he comes back he'll likely be in our bullpen by July. Eguy Rosario is also injured for 3 months, but he's an interesting utility infield option. We'll see how he does in AAA after he comes back. Pedro Avila was a AAA reliever that they were willing to throw in at no cost, he could start in a pinch. Finally, Joshua Mears is a potential MLB slugger, but he needs to cut down on the walks. Oh yeah, we're also clearing $15.6m over the next two years.
Trade #2:
Jacob Lopez will be a solid lefty specialist for us in the bullpen to start the year. Cooper Criswell isn't rule 5 eligible, but at 26 he's due his shot in the Majors. Vidal Brujan is also going to get his second chance with us, much like Campusano. Jones is a potential defensive utility guy. The rest of these guys are interesting arms that I've seen pop up in Art Deco's saves, and figured I'd give them a shot. No, but in all seriousness, they're interesting arms, my favorite of them being Curet and Vernon.
Trade #3:
This is a biggie, in terms of who we're getting back. Kirilloff and Wallner are middle of the order bats, but are similar in their positions (1B/Corner OF) and their hitting profiles. They'll fight for their places in the majors this season. Bentley and Balazovic are interesting bullpen arms, and Alejandro Hidalgo could be a solid starter down the line. The two shortstops are solid players, Perez being the more exciting prospect at the moment.
