GM only or GM & Manager?

Hey there,

I'm relatively new to the game. I've been playing the game as the GM only. But I wonder if there are some merits to take a role as GM & Manager for the beginner. Any opinions on this??

I play as both. For me, it is just the enjoyment of playing the games. An advantage to it? Probably not.

I would suggest the dual role for a beginner. That way, you get to make the trades and free agent signings, promote/demote players from/to the minors - and worry about keeping the owner happy. Plus you get to make out lineups, rotations, and game decisions with the players you have chosen. Of course, as manager you'll get hooked into playing game by game, which greatly slows down the progress of your sim. But for me, that's the fun and challenge of the game. Plus, no matter how I refine the strategy and even set lineups and rotation for my AI manager, I don't always like the decisions made. Face it, you can't clone yourself in OOTP.

I play both. I love the uniform and stadium aspect of it all.

I GM 90%. The 10% is handling subs during a game. I feel I can manage my pitchers much better than the cpu can.
