Official vs Affiliate Twitch stream

First of all, I appreciate all the time and effort the Twitch streamers put into their streams and how positive they make this game. I enjoy the 64 by DrDynastic on the official stream. But he also does an affiliate stream. I just not sure what makes a stream official vs affiliate for some streamers? For instance, Sporer does TWIPT on the official channel but sometimes when introducing new cards he does not.

This is not a complaint, I just don't understand what the criteria is to make a stream official vs affiliate? Can other affiliate streamers become official?

Thanks.

The only "official" streams are on the OOTPDevelopments channel. All others are affiliate. It doesn't matter who's doing the stream, it matters which channel it's on.

I understand this. But what is the criteria for an official stream? Can other affiliates stream on the official channel?

My understanding is that there are certain regular events for the official channel. There's TWIPT, Monday Night Baseball, Dr. Dynastic's Greatest Teams playoff, and Rob for Saturday Showdown and the Perfect League World Series. There's also laptophound's Wednesday hockey stream, but that no longer gives us PT drops.

There are, however, some irregular official streams that are not part of this schedule, and that is confusing. Rob can probably explain the details.

They can (and do, Dr. D frequently starts on the main so we can get Official drops, then switches to his personal channel to give Affiliate drops). Basically, it just needs to be about OOTP. That's why the hockey stream doesn't give drops...it isn't about the baseball game. But affiliates can't just "decide" to stream on the main channel; it has to be done by arrangement.

So far as the schedule...well, the schedule is the schedule, except when it isn't (yes, it's confusing). I have Twitch set to send push notifications when streamers I follow go live; sometimes it's the only way to know when an "unscheduled" Official stream starts (or when a scheduled one starts early, which it definitely can on Sunday).

To answer the OP question, the criteria to make a stream official versus affiliate is what channel it's done on. If it's on the OOTPD channel, it's official. When it's not, and it's on the channel of an affiliate streamer, it's affiliate. Simple as that.

And yes, sometimes there are official streams that are not part of the Almighty Schedule, especially with Rich, who goes infrequently - that's why push notifications and email notifications of when we go live are super important.

As for affiliates streaming on the official channel, I assume there is an arrangement in place with Dr. D to do some of his OOTP stuff on the channel; I am not privy to the exact details. So, for the most part, with those limited exceptions, affiliate streamers don't stream on the official channel.

(Also, just to correct the record; laptop does not host the Wednesday FHM stream on the official channel; that is someone on the FHM team doing that, and that has never (except some accidental occasions) given out PT drops since the beginning of Twitch drops.)

It's not just Dr. D, which is fine, it's that I remember BYP sometimes was run on the official channel and now it isn't, and sometimes Sporer introduces new low-level cards on his stream and sometimes not. Sometimes PTCS is on an official stream and sometimes not. I guess this is where I get confused at times.

Besides being on the official OOTP channel, what criteria allows streamers to use the official channel? Is it a developer permission issue?
