Unexpected Kudos
I opened a pack yesterday morning and landed a perfect Baby Doll Jacobsen, which set off a cascade of mission completes that led to me adding 3 perfect cards and a couple of 99s to my main team.
Until that point, I found myself increasingly frustrated by the steep decline in missions as compared to last year. Yesterday I realized a couple of things.
1. Fewer missions does mean a greater "thrill" when you actually complete one.
2. Fewer mission rewards means that cards are playable for a longer period of time. I recall by June the last couple of years I would complete a mission and be excited to land a new perfect card only to find out that it wasn't playable. It's kind of nice to be able to be in June and have a team in Diamond that still has a 95 or two on it, and to be playing teams in Gold that are competitive with some Live Cards.
The whale problems are what they are, and I'm still baffled by playoff outcomes much of the time, but I feel like the dev team deserve some credit here. Maybe they didn't intend it, but this one element, at least, makes the game more enjoyable for me.
