Bought rainbow pack and got Henry Larkin combinator card which I couldn't use or sell and it was listing for 101000 so I thought I'm stuck but before too long someone bought it so I picked another Rainbow pack with some reluctance and I drew a Shane Bieber baseball reference card that was selling for 400000 so needless to say I was so pleased.

Question I have noticed this year it seems harder to draw anything higher valued than the pack you buy. Anyone else notice this or was I luckier last year..?

I would agree...It is extremely hard to pull anything this year....opening packs this year is like opening 80's junk wax....It is almost like they are monitoring.. whats being pulled

This is much more a byproduct of so many cards being available in the deck at game release (and most of those cards being middling, at best) - coupled with the lack of most cards being in missions to date.

Statistically, the odds are always slim that the 10-20 cards you're looking for at any given time are going to be ripped in a pack.

To rephrase, it is a stats thing and not a collection mission thing, correct?

It's both. That Bieber card will be in a mission eventually, and it will be a huge chunk of the required mission points. Meanwhile, it's crazy-good as a league starter.
