The Cardinals did the best job on the city connect jerseys... they kept the team colors... the Cardinals didn't "go out of the box" like many of the silly and weird city connects did.
Sorry, never have I ever heard anyone called the city "The Lou". And EC is really, really old... and fairly well-read. And a fan of my Redbirds and Stan The Man. That's the only negative for me... otherwise it is excellent. I never knew the Cardinals have used a red jersey only one time in their history. Get ready. The media is going to take "The Lou" and run with it. I lived in New Orleans for 50 years and never heard it called "The Big Easy".. it was always the "Crescent City" or "The City That Care Forgot". Now you hear "The Big Easy" a lot, but not by natives. The phrase was taken from Dennis Quaid's mediocre film "The Big Easy". That where he had such a terrible Cajun accent. It was ridiculously bad. I wouldn't say "The Lou" is regularly used necessarily, but it is/was definitely a thing...at least at some point.
Most famously a lyric from Nelly's Country Grammar, "Sing it loud, I'm from the Lou' and I'm proud". Last edited by Rain King; 05-20-2024 at 11:11 AM. |

I'm only 84! Never have heard a complete hip hop song.... just a few blurbs and blips... it is great music if you love it... it is just not for my ears. Yeah, I know it is probably the most popular genre these days, even so-called "Country" music singers use it. Nope real country music doesn't exist anymore... sadly, it is long gone and never will be again. OOPS! Sorry for the digression. Back to the city connect and graphics topic. Thanks to Rain King for that information. Last edited by Eugene Church; 05-20-2024 at 11:19 AM. |

Well there is that "see you in St. Louie, Louie" thing. So Lou could be short for Louie. And the Cardinals are a very old franchise. Maybe before any of us they called it Lou for short. Just some thoughts.

The White Sox ones aren't terrible either - same thing where they kept the colors. The jerseys are actually pretty nice but I don't love the black pants.
