Historical Sim - Pedro Martinez off the charts

Started a historical game in 1993 (now 2004) and Pedro Martinez is doing insane things like throwing for 400 Ks.

He's the only player that's really gone off the deep end like this so I'm not sure what's going on? Is it possible this is a bug with the development engine or ratings import?

For reference I have the following set: OOTP Development engine ON, ratings recalc OFF.

Not a bug, just the GOAT. These numbers aren't that far off his 1999-2000 peak. If he stayed perfectly healthy those stats aren't inconceivable. He had a 1.39 FIP in 1999!

1999/2000 Pedro is so ridiculous that he tends to break the simulation.

Breaks it or confirms it? IRL at age 27 he did have 13 KO per 9 innings. He had several seasons over 10 KOs per 9 innings?
He has to rank up there with Koufax and a select few others.

I mean 400 Ks is a little inconceivable. Could he have been this dominant? Sure, maybe in like 10% of sims (if you were to do this 100 times). But this kind of performance happens nearly every historical sim I do. It shouldn't be case, at least in my opinion.

The game being played isn't using recalc. Just the development engine. So, give the game a baseline and some may underperform and some may outperform.

How is he not getting injured? That's the miracle.

Nolan Ryan K'd 383, Koufax 382, and Randy Johnson 372. Those are all different eras and each also absolutely insane. Peak Pedro pitching healthy without recalc to reflect those injuries and waiting for aging and the whims of TCR (which could all be upside). I think you'll get different opinions on reasonableness. Let us know how Randy did for his career when there.

Man, I miss watching him pitch at his peak.

14 K/9 that year is just 5% higher than his career best 13.2 K/9. If you want to say the health is unrealistic, sure. But this is also probably being played on the historical default of "Low" injuries, which is less realistic. Increase to a more realistic injury rate and I'm sure the percentage of saves he's so dominant in goes down.

Totally off topic, but regarding the award icons with the number of times he won said award next to his photo..... Is that something that happens by default once the player wins so many awards there is no where to fit all the icons? Or is that an adjustable setting? Because I gotta say, at least in my opinion, that looks WAYYYYYYYY cleaner and nicer than 10000 individual badge icons just piling up around the guy's photo.

Would love to change mine to look the same if it was an adustable option

It's an option under the setting menu.
