I may be biased as a Reds fan, but I'm disappointed in the Elly De La Cruz ratings update.

Pretty much, yes. The poster child for ridiculous live updates was C.J. Abrams, who put up 1.6 WAR, slugged .619, ranked tenth in the majors in OWAR (tied with no-defense corner outfielder Juan Soto, who remained a Perfect), and somehow managed only a four-point increase, which puts him five points short of Gold.
Added to this, despite three cache resets, many of my live cards are still showing the wrong numbers and ratings 20 or so hours after the update. Pathetic. |

There are a lot of examples I can think of. Clay Holmes was one of the weirdest to me - a 96 OVR that went up to a 96 OVR (haha) having not allowed a run (0.00 ERA), with a 1.50 FIP in 16 innings. If that's not enough to take him to 97, what is? And I guess if he allows any runs at all, he's going to plummet, since he stayed the same after pitching a perfect month. George Kirby was the most egregious, though. Lowest FIP in baseball among starters (2.09) and he plummeted 7 points from 95 OVR to 88 OVR. In 5 years of playing PT, it's the worst single update for a card I've seen. Almost no player saw a significant increase, and yet quite a few players saw a significant drop. So a month is enough for players to plummet, but not enough to players to go up more than 2 points with a monster month? Maybe they've nerfed the live updates as a way to knock down F2P, I don't know. I wouldn't have believed it, but that was a very special update, lmao. |

Another silly update
Jared Jones, with an 8:1 K:BB ratio and third in MLB in WHIP among qualified starters through 4/28, went from a 64 to a 65. Yeah, his HR allowed rate is poor (about 1.9/9), but he's also averaging about 7 H/9 and 1.3 BB/9.
I get it that the first update usually results in little movement of the OVR's, but he must have had some great improvements from his projections. But his Zips was 8 K/9, 3.55 BB/9, 1.06 HR/9, and a FIP of 4.41. His FIP through 4/28 was 3.88. Last edited by rburgh; 05-07-2024 at 08:22 AM. |

They're still there, assuming your card images are actually up to date. A lot of mine are still showing the original overalls and haven't been updated to reflect the new numbers. For instance, 98 Jose Altuve is still showing 94 on the card. 98 Will Smith still shows 96.Many more besides those two, although some of them have been updated and actually show the changes.

We had a CDN issue, were the CDN did not update the images from our server.
This is now resolved and the client should update the card images by itself, or if you reset your card caches it should pick up the new art. Last edited by Matt Arnold; 05-07-2024 at 10:52 AM. |
