Dev lab: Change arm slot
With the new development lab feature, I'd like to see future iterations enable users to attempt to adjust the arm slot of pitchers.
Ideally, the user would be able to help a pitcher "drop" or "raise" their arm slot to affect their splits. This is a tweak that happens pretty regularly in the real world. In OOTP I see two use cases: 1) Young pitcher with starter's skillset that throws sidearm or submarine -- the splits make them an unreliable or unrealistic starter because they struggle against opposite handedness. User can take them to the lab to get them to throw from a higher angle to reduce splits. 2) Reliever-ish guys (both young and old) who need to specialize to carve out a spot on the roster by dropping their arm slot to become more effective on same-handed batters. I know this is how Aaron Loup was able to become effective in the start of his career, as a recent example. Thanks for reading and I look forward to future iterations of this feature. |

I like this idea. actually I love it. but in ootp, there are only 4 types of arm slot so I think adjust split directly is better maybe?
something like for sidearm/submariner pitchers have option that "close the gap of split" but over the top pitcher have option that "more gap of split" |

adding a new pitch helps here, but shifting arm slot is another angle to approach this issue from. Especially if you can toggle "drop arm slot" or "bring up arm slot" pending the pitcher and what you want to do.
I totally would take fringy lefties and make them drop their slot for platoon advantage while a starter I'd want to make their arm slot go up if they are sidewinders. |
