Want to play 27 Yankees vs other great teams of history? This is how!
So, say you want to setup a league that you pick great teams from different eras. 27 Yankees, 65 Dodgers, or the 72, 73, or 74 A's, the 93 Blue Jays.
This can be done very easy! Start a fictional league. Use the drop down menu to choose how many teams you want in your league. The next page you can click on "SWITCH TO HISTORICAL TEAM SELECTION" and a new page will show up. It will have a drop down box for year and a drop down box for team. Select your historic teams and then click next. Next page, pick what year you want your league to run in and the start date. Then click next. The next page is a normal, choose to have scouts or turn scouts off, set how you want to see ratings. Next page is choose team or skip if you just want to watch. |

This is great. Can you include Negro League teams in this system?

Out of curiosity, when setting up this league, what players show as free agents? Is it other players from all of those seasons or?

This was my question. I never play historical, but for OOTP25 I wanted to start a game as the 1934 Pittsburgh Crawfords, with only the Negro National League for 1934 enabled. The steps described above did not work for me. I'm sure I did something wrong, or maybe it's because the various Negro Leagues are not classified as major leagues in OOTP.

For just the NeL in 34, start in 34 and then go to the other leagues and delete them via the settings after the sim is created.

Not to be *that guy* but I think you wanted the 1984 Tigers in that stacked AL East, not the 1985 Tigers.

Just figured that out? I've been using that for my multi-era league for years. But thanks for letting everyone else know.

Then play league as usual. Here's my current league.-- (Negro League teams never do well in my leagues!) Last edited by sdw1000; 04-28-2024 at 11:28 PM. |

And it's still "too soon" for a Phillies fan to be reminded of the 1993 World Series - "Mitch Williams, meet Joe Carter".

One major caveat
You MUST pay attention to the "settings year" when bringing in teams from various different eras. For example, if your settings year is "1927" then you cannot expect notable power pitchers to get a lot of strikeouts. It was not a strikeout era — though a few pitchers of the time, like Dazzy Vance and Lefty Grove, got more than their share.
If your settings year is closer to the modern era, you can excpect lots of strikeouts and very, very few complete games out of pitchers. Also: be prepared for LOTS of home runs, even from players not known for hitting them. This can be quite entertaining, though, as players like Joe DiMaggio and Willie Mays can do some crazy things. You also must understand that results will not be realistic. For some teams and players, the results won't be anywhere close to realistic. One more thing: If you want these "all-time" teams to remain intact, TURN OFF trades. The first time I did a league like this, all these "all-time" teams started trading with each other! Not saying it won't be entertaining, but it probably won't be what you want. |
