OOTP Manual 25?

Why is there no OOTP Manual 25 this year?

We are planning to rework several parts of the manual process, so we will release it when we have finalized that process.

Another party interested in when the manual will be available. Even if there's no time frame, perhaps just adding a note saying anything other than query error.

They'll get around to it when they get around to it.

If they're going to truly fix it, that will take a long time and they'll need to hire extra help.

Just think about all the questions they have answered on the boards which were never added to the manual.

And explaining undefined terms, that's a month long project by itself.

All kidding aside, I bet you could get all the answers to your questions be searching these forums or asking others, these forums are a much better resource than any of their online manuals.

so you waste time searching for post assuming the answers are correct. what percent is correct vs opinion vs regurgitated bad facts.
lol - it is so difficult to document that 'they have had to hire additional people' for whatever (big secret) they are reworking, which won't include in game help or context sensitive help.

Not that hard to find a topic using the "Search Forum" link, and if that is too much work for you, just post your question and from my experience you will get your answer fairly quickly, sometimes from the developers. Just something else you like to whine about.

Fred is correct. We were told that the adjust/weaken settings worked one way when playing historical( most of the telling was by someone that is now a huge part of the historical development team) and then with the release of this version, we were told they now work in a completely different way. We were then told that the change in how they work, actually began with the release of OOTP23(rumor or fact, who knows). So if true, for 2 full versions, only a chosen few knew about the change. Searching the forums is useful, but it's not always the best avenue to the truth. Clearly the best avenue to opinions and speculation, but sometimes the truth gets lost in the shuffle.

Fair enough, and I meant to edit my original post....was not saying he whines about things, meant as in general for people to whine. But I see your point.

Has anyone offered to help update it from the Beta team who seem to know the ins and outs better than we do?

Beta team? Is ootp 25 still in beta? Or are you referring to ootp26? Is 25 that much different from 24? Does 24 have an online manual? In 2024 is it not possible to update an online manual as your fix the release of a game?

Btw, to your point on searching the forum for answers. I don’t know if you have noticed, but these boards are from the dinosaur age comparatively. I play ootp 21 and still find it much easier to find clear answers most of the time via the online manual. YMMV

Most of the people on the Beta team have been there for years and many versions and there are many discussions in that part of the forums between members. They usually keep the same group to help Beta the next version and test out patches before they are released to the public. I think he means those people offering to help them update the manual for 25.

Yes, I mean the people on the Beta team for 25 and previous versions, they are usually the same people each year.

And yes, forums are old, but I have also found that asking a question here or on Reddit seems to get me the answer I am looking for. And yes, I have used the manual before in older versions but found that people who play the game can get you the answer just as easily.

With all the options and possible settings and yes, the weird way people want to play (I’m including myself in playing Random and how I set up my league), a good manual that answers most questions that pop up would have to be bigger than my car manual.

PS Another well known PC baseball computer game charges for their manual that has their advance rules/options.

Sometimes the truth gets intentionally buried. After all, the more the clique can blame on user settings, the less has to be fixed.

Yes. As long as they're adjusting the play functionality, it's still beta. When they get to the point of fixing problems with shoe colors, it isn't.

I assume it's worth it. Since it's been stated here the board is a better resource than the OOTP manual, who would pay extra for it?
