Players not developing for any team

I was playing a standard game reached the year 2030 and I began to notice that my farm system was full of players that were all 20 ovr. I thought maybe i'm just doing a bad job at developing so I went to the league page and filtered the players tab for players drafted after 2024(when the save starts). Hardly any players drafted since 2024 even reached the major leagues while only 4 pitchers produced more than 1 career war and only 7 position players. My developmental settings for this save are development target age at much younger and talent change randomness at 125 everything else is standard. I think something is off here there is just a league wide problem where specifically players drafted after the save started aren't getting better

Player Development Broken?

I posted about this last night but I wanted to confirm my hypothesis. I started a new save simulated until 2029 and only 4 players from 2025-2028 draft classes have debuted in the MLB. Only 13 players drafted in 2024 or later are even on a MLB payroll. I think there is definitely an issue causing these players not to develop properly. I didn't change any settings just put the game in auto play and let it run and got these results. Hope to see this get resolved soon.

We tested development extensively and have done a lot of work on it, so I doubt it's truly broken, though there may be areas where we need to tweak more.

I'm not really sure this is the best period to test.

That's because the 2025 and 2026 and 2027 drafts are likely to be somewhat weak, until we add in and tweak the ratings of more real HS age players to the db there, which should come over the course of the next month or so. Plus the initial roster set players are probably a touch strong compared to created players (as they usually are).

So it's a bad combination to get a lot of 2025, 2026 and 2027 guys debuting quickly.

If you run out to like 2035 or 2040 and then look back to players from 3 and 4 and 5 years previously debuting, I think you'll get a better feel for how things look.

What about the international player development. I have hardly seen any guys from that demographic develop at all. I've only had one generated position player debut and achieve more than 1 war in MLB. I understand that this is a volatile demographic but to not see at least a handful of these guys excelling seems off to me. I don't even notice any imminent big leaguers in the minors.

When we simmed out like 25 or 30 or 50 years repeatedly while testing development and the numbers of int players stayed pretty steadily consistent to real life.

Now that being said, we did just tweak some international player generation stuff just before launch which could potentially have changed things.

So for sure this is worth looking at a bit more closely to make sure that things are still good there. It's on our list of stuff to work through and make sure all is well in the first couple patches, but feedback from you or others would be helpful too.

Overall on development, we are still a little short on getting enough very young guys to the majors.

So whereas guys irl might typically debut at 3 or 4 years, they might be more likely at 5 or 6 years on average in game right now, with a smaller amount debuting earlier.

This is another thing that's on our list to look at and possibly tweak further over the first few patches.

I did some work tonight on the 2024-2026 draft classes, so these should have a little more higher-end talent in the first patch.

Will continue to work on them over the next months.

Is there a way to not use “real” draft classes starting in 2023 if they’re an issue? Like can I delete the class and generate a new one?

Yes, you can just delete everyone in the class, then set the draft reveal date to the next day and the game will generate all fictional players.
